    Title: Web Alliance Manager

    Job description:
    Powells.com Books, the nation's top independent online bookseller, seeks a Web Alliance Manager to manage our online channel partners. Duties include maintenance and optimization of ongoing relationships with our online selling partners, including Amazon Marketplace, AbeBooks, Alibris, eBay, and working with Monsoon software. The position is also responsible for managing and optimizing our relationship with national inventory partners Ingram Books and Baker and Taylor, and international inventory partners as well. Along with ensuring the efficiency and effectiveness of these partnerships, the person in this position is also responsible for growing and expanding our reach with channel partners both domestic and worldwide.     Pay range is $18 - $26/hour depending on skills and experience.     Position Summary:
    The Web Alliance Manager creates, oversees, and manages the online business to business alliances of Powells.com. This person works independently and with discretion to determine which new alliances to seek out, and represents the company at the highest levels in the negotiation of new contracts. The Web Alliance Manager acts as the ongoing primary point-of-contact with our business alliances, and independently renegotiates terms of contracts as necessary. Within Powell's, the Web Alliance Manager is responsible for managing the implementation of business alliances, and directs resources, both monetary and human, toward that goal. The Web Alliance Manager reports directly to the Powells.com Division Manager. As a member of the management team, this person shares in the responsibility of reaching Powells.com and Corporate goals.

    Essential Functions:

    • Serves as primary point-of-contact, both internally and externally, for current and future business to business alliances of Powells.com.
    • Works with discretion and independence to negotiate and renegotiate all terms of contracts with business alliances, including margins, commissions, freight reimbursement, and division of labor between Powells.com and business partners.
    • Coordinates and directs new business initiatives across Powell's locations and departments (accounting, operations, fulfillment, customer service, programming, publicity, etc.).
    • Manages and directs Powell's employees as necessary to implement and maintain all functional aspects of our business relationships.
    • Independently assigns resources as necessary to implement and maintain all functional aspects of our business relationships.
    • Works with all necessary Powell's departments on ongoing reporting aspects of business alliances.
    • Creates frameworks for customer service to facilitate customer satisfaction concerning alliance purchases.
    • Directs the development and maintenance of other inventory based online marketing directives.
    • Ensures compliance of the contractual obligations of both Powell's and our business partners.
    • Works on the overall strategic direction of Powells.com with the Internet directors and corporate leadership team.
    • Other duties as assigned.


    Requirements / Qualifications:
    • Extensive knowledge of eCommerce and Internet technologies, including ftp systems, cgi-script, cookies, cross-browser performance issues, and Powell's integrated suite of programming tools.
    • Extensive understanding of the bookselling industry, online and off (particularly as one relates to the other).
    • Experience working directly with Amazon Marketplace, AbeBooks, Alibris, eBay, Monsoon, Ingram Book Group, Baker and Taylor, and other online channel partners for both sales and inventory preferred.
    • Experience in negotiating and preparing business contracts preferred.
    • Two years experience in Internet and/or eCommerce business preferred.
    • Proficiency in word processing (MS Word), database (MS Access), and database spreadsheet (MS Excel) programs required. Familiarity with MySQL a plus but not mandatory.
    • Absolute ability to maintain confidential information
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities.
    • Great attention to detail and organizational skills.
    • Ability to work independently, and with discretion.
    • Ability to enlist and inspire others.
    • Love of books and reading.

    Title: Payroll Administrator

    Job description:
    Powell's Books, the nation's top independent bookseller, is looking for a Payroll Administrator. This position is responsible for the oversight and execution of all aspects of Powell's Books, Inc. payroll administration. This is a full-time, Monday - Friday position. Salary range will depend on experience and qualifications. Powell's also offers a full benefits package: medical-dental-vision, childcare assistance, transportation subsidy, education assistance, 401K, employee discounts, generous time off, etc.

    Requirements:

    • Experience processing payroll for 300+ employees with a minimum of 2 years full-cycle payroll experience (pay period and quarterly tax filings included)
    • Outsource payroll processing company experience preferred (ADP experience a plus)
    • Solid understanding and experience in employment laws and regulations required
    • Experience with automated time and attendance systems strongly preferred (Kronos, E-Time)
    • Must possess leadership skills necessary to mentor, lead and train others
    • Excellent communication/interpersonal skills required
    • Demonstrated attendance reliability required
    • Must be able to work independently and as part of a team
    • Absolute ability to maintain confidentiality a requirement
    • Satisfactory results of a criminal background check
